The aim of this section is to consider the significance of emotional pain.
In the following vignette, we will meet an elderly man as he goes about his daily life, followed by some thoughts about emotional pain offered by Dr. Don Melady, an emergency physician with a particular interest in the care of older patients, and bioethicist, Dr. Kerry Bowman.
